![]() ![]() This goes for every single thing in the game, and it’s just not smooth at all. Every time you interact with something, however, there is a finicky moment when Fennel has to position himself just right to interact. While you’re not playing one of the three arcade minigames, you walk around in an isometric view interacting with objects, meeting characters, etc. Playing Button City can be a little annoying. There aren’t just issues with bugs, however. Since playing these games is integral to some plot points, it was a bit frustrating to have my cute animal game interrupted by bugs. reVolution Racer was frequently missing my opponent’s car, and Prisma Beats would often get stuck so I’d be unable to hit any of the notes, though I couldn’t fail, either. I didn’t go into Button City expecting the highest quality minigames, but it was the bugs and performance issues that I had trouble with. It’s set up like a team versus team style game, but it’s purely single player with your in-game friends playing on your team-which makes you almost forget that they’re just “bots.” reVolution Racer is a simple racing game, and Prisma Beats is a Dance Dance Revolution style game-and they’re both incredibly rudimentary. Gobabots is a sort of Killer Queen meets DOTA style game where you have to collect fruit to make the largest smoothie. There are three arcade games that play an important role in Button City: Gobabots, reVolution Racer, and Prisma Beats. As someone who grew up in the 90s, Button City pressed all the right nostalgic buttons while fulfilling my need for comforting cuteness. As a game about arcade games, I was even a bit surprised to find that not only are there playable arcade games, but sometimes they serve as integral parts of the story. What ensues is a surprisingly vulnerable, but always wholesome, story about a group of kids trying to protect the thing they love. As Fennel you meet a group of new friends who bond over the fierce competition around Gobabots, Button City arcade’s newest craze. It’s sickly cute-you play as a young fox named Fennel as he navigates through the social complexities of 90’s adolescence and arcade games. And while I’m happy to say it does elicit those fuzzy feelings, its gameplay is a little frustrating.īutton City is a narrative-driven adventure game. Button City, while not in the same genre, definitely gave off the same vibe as Animal Crossing did when I first saw it. Animal Crossing is one that immediately comes to mind, and perhaps its surge in popularity has paved the way for more feel good games, or maybe I’ve just noticed them more after spending so many mental health hours on my island. ![]() I’m extremely partial to wholesome games-games that you can wrap yourself in like a blanket of good feelings. ![]() ![]() ![]() It might seem odd that a $3 million jet doesn’t have nosewheel steering, but it doesn’t need it as long as pilots don’t overuse the brakes, it works fine, although you do need to give the jet a little burst of power before making any turns. Having owned an airplane with no nosewheel steering, I’m comfortable with the Cirrus “steer by brakes” castering nosewheel, a characteristic in all Cirrus airplanes. The plan was to exercise the G2+ at a higher-elevation airport to test the improved takeoff performance, but given some time constraints, we ended up diverting to Sunriver, which was almost as high and a bit closer. We started the 1,846-pound-thrust Williams FJ44-5A engine, an automatic process typical of modern electronically controlled engines, and then Bergwall set up the Farmington 7 departure and route to Lake County Airport, 231 nm away. The Garmin-based Perspective Touch+ avionics are a familiar home for a Garmin user but have the added advantage over the SR series of touchscreen controllers mounted at the bottom of the instrument panel. The pilot’s (left) seat moves far back on its tracks and lines up with the doorway to make climbing aboard simple. The Vision jet's large windows provide excellent visibility. ![]() The Vision Jet and SR are so similar that it’s an easy transition the main difference is that operating the jet’s engine is far simpler than efficiently managing a piston engine’s controls. I’ve flown the Vision Jet twice before and have also received formal training in the Cirrus SR piston single-engine four-seater, so I’m somewhat familiar with the layout of the cockpit. Although the flight took place before the heatwave that brought 110+ deg F weather to the area, we were able to observe the improved jet’s high-altitude performance while flying from Hillsboro to Sunriver, Oregon, and back. To preview the upgrades, I flew the G2+ with Vision Jet program manager Matt Bergwall, who met me at Hillsboro Airport near Portland, Oregon. This means the jet now has two key safety features: the whole-airframe parachute for the rare possibility of engine failure or some other catastrophic problem, such as a midair collision and Autoland, to help handle the unlikely chance of pilot incapacitation. Of course, the Vision Jet also is fitted with Garmin’s Autoland system, branded Safe Return by Cirrus. The Flex system adds no weight to the jet and will be available in the first quarter of 2022. This adds cargo attachments to the seating system, enabling the safe carriage of large items such as bicycles, golf clubs, coolers, and luggage. Another new feature, the Flex cargo management system, was announced more recently. ![]() The other upgrades include Gogo Avance 元 “Inflight Wi-Fi,” USB-C ports, and new paint scheme “colorways” that include Titan Grey, Volt, and Bimini Blue. The change doesn’t affect power output but it delivers a 20 percent “optimized thrust profile” that provides increased performance where it’s most needed, during takeoff on hot days and at high altitudes. Just before the opening of this year’s EAA AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the airframer unveiled the latest version of the aircraft, the G2+ Vision Jet, with some helpful new features.Ĭhief among these is a performance improvement, thanks to an upgrade to the jet’s Williams International FJ44-5A Fadec (electronic control) system. Please confirm price, fees, charges and features with the seller of the Aircraft or Part.Owners of Cirrus airplanes have come to expect regular updates to keep the aircraft fresh and appealing to new buyers, and it’s no surprise that Cirrus Aircraft has adopted this philosophy for its entire line, including the SR piston singles as well as the single-engine Vision Jet. The healing and clean-up tools are much better/smarter in Photoshop and corrections to missing/minimal colors using color channels can be very helpful at extremes, but I'd expect to have to use it for that, anyway. in Capture 1 have any advantages over Lightroom. I was just wondering if Capture One, with its adjustment layers, masking and such offered better or more advanced control (no layers in Lightroom, of course), so a just some more in-depth processing than Lightroom. ![]() Of course, when you get to disparate color balance in the picture (blending flash + non-flash areas a bit), that is probably not something Lightroom will ever be good at - it isn't intended to. However, as I take pictures deeper, adjusting for color balance is much trickier in my experience and Lightroom's tools, as good as they are, haven't seemed good enough at times. I don't go into Photoshop for all of my UW photos - Lightroom is fine for shallow to shallow-mid water images. I do find I can fine tune the levels adjustment in PS with a levels layer there - again it's very quick - in PS I hold down the alt key while moving the slider and it will show where that channel is clipping - you want each channel just short of clipping unless there's some specular highlights. White balance and tint I don't move much as the levels as I describe above does a better job - I occasionally tweak tint in green water shots. If required, a little bit of clarity - easy to overdo and I always use some structure. Other things I do are exposure and shadow/highlight adjustment these should be done first if significant moves are made. Once you get used to it you are ready to edit is PS very quickly - it does create a tiff file in the folder you are browsing to open in PS - which is an extra copy. Here's the levels adjustment from a recent image I processed: ![]() In green water sometimes you might need to pull a little more green out - I do this on the green channel curve. I don't even look at the photo apart from checking highlight warnings when I'm making the adjustments - it comes out very close. On the highlight side use the highlight warning and pull it in till it just starts to show highlight warnings. All you need to is pull in the shadow/highlight points on the tool to just touch the edge of the histogram in each individual colour channel. Levels I regard as a fundamental tool without black/white points set an image will lack mid tone contrast and it is also the easiest way to colour balance an UW photo going. ![]() It has some nice features for UW work including the ability to do levels and curves in raw and certainly it gets a lot closer than what ACR can do before leaping into PS. I use capture 1 and basically use it as raw processing engine before launching into PS. I do think the Capture 1 cataloguer looks weaker than Lightroom but, again, I don't have extensive experience with it and might be wrong about that. That being said, Capture 1 seems to have some features that might be more powerful than Lightroom - it might be able to push UW photos further along before having to jump in to Photoshop.ĭo any of you have some solid experience with Capture 1 and would be willing to share your thoughts, particularly as it relates to processing UW photos? Any general thoughts for non-UW photos as well as the cataloguer are also welcome, but I am specifically looking to see if its feature set might be a better choice than Lightroom for UW photos, in particular. I do have a copy of Capture 1 and have played with it a little - I'm by no means as familiar with it as I am with Lightroom. I tend to jump into Photoshop pretty early and do a lot of the processing there. Underwater photos have their challenges, and Lighroom (where I start) isn't very useful a fair amount of the time.
